Our standard areas of inspection on all cars includes:
- Bodywork – outside, underneath and from inside, checking for rust, accident damage, repairs/spraying, chips, dents and loose trim.
- Wheels, tyres, brake discs and pads – wear, fouling, correct fitting etc.
- Interior – correct function of all electrical and mechanical items, including switches and trim, checking for wear, scuffs and damage.
- Hood and screen, plus hardtop if available, if it’s a cabriolet/Spider.
- Engine and gearbox – full check for oil and fluid condition, belts and seal leaks, correct operation and general wear level – further tests such as leak down and compression tests are optional but rarely required.
- Steering, suspension, exhaust/catalyser, transmission and other underside mechanicals, heatshields, undertrays etc
- Thorough check underneath for evidence of accident repair / damage
- A road test to check the engine, clutch, gearbox, steering, suspension, brakes and performance in action. Any areas of concern are investigated immediately.
- We’ll provide a verbal report listing items found as soon as we’ve finished, and typically a guide to rectification costs.
- A written report will be sent to you within at the most a couple of days, usually overnight.
Our fees are normally £295 UK-wide, although our use of marque experts means that for low volume marques sometimes the best engineer is relatively distant from the car. Therefore a small supplement (£25-50) may be necessary. We will confirm this with you.
Our fees for Ferrari, Rolls Royce and Bentley are usually £350 due to complexity and the cost of putting a qualified inspector on the job.
Prices include VAT at the current rate.
HPI Checks can be produced for an additional £25 when booked as part of your inspection. We will advise if anything is untoward and the inspection process may terminate here. We will also liase with the police if the vehicle is listed on their Watch register.
